Transformer movement from Texas to Montana

Jan 22, 2020

The team from the BNSFL Project Center in Houston handled the transport of one heavy transformer with a weight of 250,000 Lbs (about 113,4 ton) arriving from China at the Port of Houston to Colstrip, Montana.

For the rail transport the Center of Gravity (COG) had to be offset by 27 inches (68,58 cm) with 35,000 lbs (about 15,87 ton) of counterweights.

The transformer was transport by rail from Houston to a rail-siding in Forsyth, Montana, trans-loaded and trucked to the jobsite with the rough setting onto the foundation ending this project movement.
