Express Global Logistics moves 38 meter long regenerator

May 19, 2020

Express Global Logistics (EXG), member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in India, was awarded the contract of moving a 38 meter long AMINE REGENERATOR from North-West India to South-East India, by one of the world’s leading EPC contractors.

The distance of approximately 1500 km was covered in 30 days on a 14 axle trailer with a 10 meter spacer in the middle. The transport of this regenerator with dimensions of 38.3 x 2.33 x 2.37 meters was a unique experience because of its length and the time of the movement.

The length of the shipment poised interesting technical challenges for the EXG engineers. A detailed route survey was conducted earlier, but the job was to be performed under extended national lockdown with no means for a revised route survey.

The combination of EXG’s seasoned operations team and highly experienced engineers, were an important factor in the execution of this job.

Most of the hurdles were foreseen in advance and solutions were incorporated in the performance methodology.
Major challenges were faced by the insufficient turning radiuses on curves, climb, slopes and required permissions due to the lockdown. The route had a combination of rough and hilly region for which EXG crew was prepared in advance.

The most challenging part was to take prior approvals from the authorities, which was only possible with the help of the EXG engineering team, who had proposed multiple solutions for each obstacle.
