Conveyor Logistics handles transport of Power Plant equipment in Bangladesh

Conveyor Logistics Ltd, member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Bangladesh, was employed to receive cargo at Ports of Entry Mongla and Chittagong, arrange for inland transportation by road and river and delivery at the jobsite for a power plant. This project is the Extension of the Barapukuria Coal Fired Thermal Power Station 275 MW (3rd Unit) at Dinajpur, Bangladesh.

Heavy and outsized items were received from the incoming oceanvessel at Mongla Port on flat barges and thereafter transported by river from Mongla to Balashight. Heavylift- and overdimensional pieces of this shipoment were unloaded from the barges by RORO method and transported to Balashigh, near to the jobsite/plant area. From Balashight the heavy and oversized items got transported by SPMT to the power plant area.

The most heavy and outsized items consisted of

  • Drum: Length 19.8 m, Width 3.22 m, Height 2.37 m, Weight 199 ton
  • Deaerator: Length 26.8 m, Width 4.95 m, Height 4.08m, Weight 90 ton
  • Stator Assembly: Length à 8.1 m, Width 3.8 m, Height 3.87 m, Weight 195 ton
